My name is Sam Virkler and I am working on a website but no one really knows why.
I have a beautiful girlfriend and a loving family and a good job and so I consider myself pretty lucky.
I am a civil engineering student at SUNY University at Buffalo. I have a passion for renewable energy which led me to additionally minor in electrical engineering.
I like to consider myself a learner, and this website is a testament to that. I love learning new things, and projects like this are a good way to
motivate myself to do just that. I graduated from Marcus Whitman high school as Valedictorian, which sounds impressive until you realize there were only 96 students
in my graduating class and only about 20 students with a GPA over 90/100. I had a 4.0 in college until I got an A- in Mechanics of solids by 1%. I'm still a little
upset about that. I have a vague impression that I might go on to medschool and become a nuerologist. I don't think this will happen but it's a possibility.
I have mixed feelings bragging about my academic success. I feel like it wasn't really earned, which is another reason I like doing cool things like this, they
actually mean something. I hope this website serves as a good representation of what I've done and what I hope to do.

This website was made entirely by me completely from scratch. All code was written in VS code with the eventual goal of hosting everything on a raspberry pi.
As of 7/25/2026 is hosted on cloudflare. This project was intended to improve my understanding of web development as well as build programming skills in
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also love the idea of building more skills in databases, and intend to look into SQL and database processing in general.
